How to Meditate with Your Heart
How to Meditate with Your Heart
Revelation
No more my heart shall sob or grieve.
My days and nights dissolve in God's own Light.
Above the toil of life my soul
Is a Bird of Fire winging the Infinite.
I have known the One and His Secret Play,
And passed beyond the sea of Ignorance Dream.
In tune with Him, I sport and sing;
I own the Golden Eye of the Supreme.
Drunk deep of Immortality,
I am the root and boughs of a teeming vast.
My Form I have known and realized.
The Supreme and I are one; all we outlast.
This is one of the multiple exercises by Sri Chinmoy published in the book, Jewels of Happiness.
To start this exercise, first find a quiet place where you can be alone. Sit down comfortably and without any tension, and try to breathe deeply but softly.
Let your rhythmic breath bring you the serenity of mind and the feeling of wellbeing. Slowly and gently shift the thoughts and the control of your mind from your head to another place in your heart.
Now, with your mind’s eye imagine:
That you can have great satisfaction imagining a child infinitely more beautiful than the most beautiful child in the world.
After a minute, change the perspective and imagine and affirm:
Inside of me, there is an infinite Child, even more, beautiful than the one imagine before” repeat this to yourself, and since it is the truth, you will feel an intense feeling of happiness.
The Child that Sri Chinmoy talks about is your Soul, hence the extraordinary beauty and infinite happiness that comes from its emanations.
Try to hold this realization for at least three minutes."
When you feel deep in your heart that that child is you, transport yourself to a shiny flower garden. This garden is, in truth your heart. You are allowed to enjoy this place deeply and play there; it is a safe space.
Let your child roam from one flower to another, feeling deeply the beauty, the colorfulness and the fragrance of each different blossom. While you are there (inside of your heart) you may mediate, create, visualize and create intentional thoughts for yourself, they will always be filled with harmony, beauty, and lightness.
To finish this meditation, go back and concentrate on your breathing pattern; after a couple of moments, dedicate yourself to some Spiritual activity, such as reading, singing yourself a mantra, or just resting in the memory of this pleasurable moment. Wait until the fully inspirational experience of this medication to be fully assimilated by the soul before you re-start your daily activities.
My heart of love
Is divinely beautiful.
I love my beautiful heart.
My heart of devotion
Is eternally soulful.
I love my soulful heart.
My heart of surrender
Is supremely fruitful.
I love my fruitful heart.
~Sri Chinmoy
The Spiritual Heart is a place where all the higher emotions reside. The feeling of being happy with oneself despite one’s external situation is an indicator of internal realization. It is also a sign that we have started true contact with our Higher Self, our Soul.
The threshold of our soul is our Spiritual Heart.
