Tantra and Kundalini

According to the philosophy of Tantra, the entire universe is a manifestation of pure consciousness. In manifesting the universe, this pure consciousness seems to become divided into two poles or aspects, neither of which can exist without the other.

One aspect, Shiva, is masculine, retains a static quality and remains identified with unmanifested consciousness. Shiva has the power to be but not the power to become or change.

The other aspect, Shakti, is feminine, dynamic, energetic and creative. Shakti is the Great Mother of the universe, for it is from her that all form is born.

All that is found in the cosmos can be found within each individual, and the same principles that apply to the universe apply in the case of the individual being.

Kundalini Shakti is a sexual energy; Kundalini Shakti is conceived as a goddess, then, when it rises to the head, it unites itself with the Supreme Being, Lord Shiva.

The aspirant becomes engrossed in deep meditation and infinite bliss. This raw energy is the secret tool, which, when awakened, has the power to transform an individual from ordinary to exceptional.

I experienced this movement in my body in my twenties and I am now in my forties and it is happening again. Only now I have much more understanding of it. I am reading “”The Magdalen Manuscript: The Alchemies of Horus and the Sex Magic of Isis” by Tom Kenyon and Judi Sion. I am not very interested in sex, so much as releasing this pent up energy in my sacrum that drives me to do yoga for hours on end. While doing so, I have fabulous realizations of a spiritual nature and also about mundane things in my life. I can see fabulous opportunities in my mundane life that I am aghast that I did not see before. The other day in one yoga posture, I felt a release, of toxins perhaps, because I felt the energy move, but then I felt nauseous and suddenly weak. The left side of my sacrum is so sore I could cry. I feel like it is associated with the crystalline grid that is opening on Sunday 10-10-10. I am expecting a tremendous release on Sunday. I also teach and perform belly dancing, and have recently become interested in the tribal fusion style. As I understand it, it is Kundalini yoga set to music! I get most of my inspiration for choreography from these intense yoga sessions. I do these sessions on the beach where I live, not in a class. The Kundalini is too intense for me to take classes very often. I hope to work through this very soon. It is totally improving me on a whole: spiritually, financially, as a teacher, and as a dancer. Even as a wife ;)
